SAPXPG command timeout

We are getting the below error.  I havent found any specific note particular to CPIC return code 020, SAP return code 456.

This timeout is happening intermittently. I suspect it is an kernel Issue. But, however I dint find any spect note for my PL.

We are only Kernel 720 PL 300.

SAPXPG version is 720 PL 215.

I looked into 1891781 - error occurs when you execute an external command

 

But it is not relevant in our case.

STMS Autoimport & Feedback

Hi, guru,

 

I've configured STMS Autoimport (periodly) & Feedback (email after import).

All works ok, but requests log-files (imported) are filling by messages about start tp-program during 6 hours.

How to block it?

dev_disp file reset

     Hello all,

 

In order to troubleshoot an error, I had to increase the trace level to 2 for dispatcher. It caused /usr/sap/SID FS full. So I quickly moved dev_disp file to another location so as to bring the FS utilization to normal. It happened and system is running fine.

 

But here is the issue,

 

I got the FS extended by 15 GB and now when I check, no dev_disp file has been created by SAP application to write log.

 

Is it not created automatically?

 

I thought making a file manually would help.. Created a file by touch command

 

> touch dev_disp

 

but nothing is getting written to the dev_disp file even if I increase the trace level to 2.

 

I tried resetting the trace files from SM50, thought it would create a file but it did not help also.

 

Could you please suggest how can i get a normal dev_disp file back where all the logs would be written normally.

I am doing a system copy, I am importing now but I am stuck at step Creating/Checking tablespaces

How to setup source system to manual in LMDB

Hi Experts,

 

For creating an xml for an upgrade, we are working with SAP and they want us to remove the kernel components in LMDB from the systems for which you are copying the stack xml with report RPT_MOPZ_COPY_STACK_XML.

 

I am trying to delete the kernel components but its not deleting and says:

 

Software component version 'SAP KERNEL 7.42 64-BIT UNICODE (KRNL64UC 7.42)' was supplied automatically

Message no. LMDB_BO122

 

Diagnosis

There are automatic data suppliers that register technical systems automatically to SAP Solution Manager. The installed software component version was registered by such an automatic data supplier. This data is usually reliable and should not be removed manually.

 

Check whether a change is really required.

 

Procedure

If the technical system is wrong, check that the automatic data supplier for the managed technical system still delivers data.

 

Procedure for System Administration

By default, the system prevents the deletion. To override the default, set the user parameter LMDB_AUTO_DS_OVRWRT to '06'. This will allow the deletion and change of automatically supplied information.

 

As mentioned in the above message from LMDB I have given this parameter to my id and logged back in and tried deleting. But still it won't delete.

 

Please advice.

Value of rdisp/wp_no_enq if ASCS installed on CI host

Hi experts,

 

we have CI and ASCS installed on same host i have duobt about the enque work process.

Just to confirm i think there is no need to set "rdisp/wp_no_enq" parameter in instance profile.

 

currenlty its value is 3 can i remove form CI profile.

Alerts for Max DB

Hi Experts ,

 

 

We have a Content Server Hosted on Max DB on windows 2003 server. Due to dis-connectivity with one of drive , DB was   Abruptly shutdown and not able to change to online from Admin mode. Please anyone could suggest if there is any possibility to configure Alerts if the mode of Max DB Changes to offline or Admin.

failed to delete an invalided archive

Friends:

 

I have a strange error as attached that I did not see before.

 

What I show here is my failure to delete one archiving object's archive.  But  the exact same error also occurs if I

try to deleted other archiving objects' invalided archives. In other words, no matter what archiving objects, as long as

I try to delete an invalided archive in this way, this error will happen.

 

I have applied note 1487602 but it did not fix this error.

 

There is another note about the same error, but that note is for IS-OIL.  We do not have IS-OIL.

Media list for ECC 6 EHP 8 Upgrade

Hi Basis expert,

 

Can you please let me know from where I can get the media list for ECC 6 EHP 8 Upgrade.

 

I checked the Upgrade Master Guide and Upgrade Guide for ECC 6 EHP 8 but these guides doesn't have the media list.

 

Previously I remember the media list for upgrade was published separately with the Material Media Number / Description.

 

Kindly do the needful.

snote error

Hi all,

 

Good Day...

 

We have 3 system landscape in our environment. I want to implement a sap note (1121965) in our system. I am planning to implement the note firstly in Development system. In development system i tried to check the status of the NOTE in the tcode SNOTE. While checking the status, the following message is coming.

Then in SM59 i checked the status of SAPOSS. Then also it is showing an error message stating "ERROR WHEN OPENING AN RFC connection"

DB Restore and Recovery

Dear SAP Experts,

 

We have Client export(SCC8) and import(SCC7) activity every month from Production client to QAS client for testing. And due to huge data it is taking 2 to 3 days and sometime it fails.

 

1.Can we go with option DB restore and recovery method. Which one is simple and the best.

2. Can we use BRTOOLS for this. Pls suggest.

Heterogenous system build

Hi Experts,

 

We have an upgrade coming up and for the same have to create sandbox systems for CRM (ABAP, Linux, Oracle), BW (ABAP+Java, Linux, Oracle) and EP (Java, Windows, MS SQL) from the production systems.

 

All our systems are on VMWare. We have high availability setup but only on the VM level, not on SAP level. The sandbox systems will be copied over as clones from the production systems. I have below two queries -

 

1. Can I use the system rename tool? I have checked all the prerequisites and we qualify all of that, except the HA. I am not sure this HA restriction (according to note 1619720) will apply in this case also where HA is only at the VM level.

 

2. If I don't or can't use the system rename tool, how can I change the systems. There will be a DB<sid> and SAP<sid> change. I know the post steps (running BDLS etc), but not sure how to change the SIDs of the system.

Delete or remove component from ESS portal

Dear SAP Gurus,

 

Please guide me how can I remove a component from the ESS portal. Basically I need to hide or remove a tab called "Family Member/ Dependant" under Personal details of OSS portal. I have a related component for this by the help of which I can remove it but I have no idea how to do perform these steps, not sure if this can be performed at the NWA or Backend system or both. Please help.

Unix-System in a Windows transport domain?

Dear all,

 

I have several SAP Systems on Windows using a central transport directory and domain. So far - so good. Now I want to include an Unix-based (Linux) System to this transport domain. Found notes and documentation how to gain Windows Systems access to a transdir on an Unix server (NFS) - but I need the opposite way.

My SLES-Linux is able to browse the network and connect to windows share "sapmnt" after giving valid account information (used the <SID>adm of the transport domain controller host). Should I now be able to do the standard steps in STMS to include my SLES-System and this would suffice?

 

What about the different text files (cofiles) with CR/LF? Importing transports from Windows-based Systems to the Linux-based System by manually copying the files from one server to the other (by FTP-program) had never produced errors.

SAP content server traffic

Hi Experts,

 

Our ECL viewer attempted to open the file directly to content server, rather than through netweaver AS, Is this the default behavior?  Is there a way to alter this so the viewer will use the same pass-through netweaver AS access as the upload/download?
