Export of ~6000 users from a LDAP connected Portal

$

Hello,

we've migrated the Portal from UME only to LDAP (AD) + UME.

Now we'll export the users UME + LDAP to check and compare it but it's not possible anymore due to LDAP limitation of 1000 users.

All limitations we found on Portal side are already increased to 10000 users.

The AD guy told us they cannot increasi this value so we need to read the users in junks at 1000 users but we couldn't find any possibility for this.

Do someone knows how to export 6000 users in junks of 1000 users to get all users of a Portal exported?

Thanks in advance

Harald

Restore Backup after Upgrade from 4.7 to ECC 6.x

$

Hello Followers of SAP NetWeaver Adminstrator,

our company is considering to migrate from 4.7 [1] to ECC 6.0

At the moment there are two routes under consideration:

1) upgrade the existing system and keep data or

2) set up a new system and restore from system/client copy.

Gathering information for the alternatives I found an "Upgrade Dependency Analyzer". According to this SAP Application there shouldn't be any difficulties doing an upgrade [2].

I would like to pose two questions:

a) What are your experiences and why would you encourage one route over the other?

and more importantly:

b) How would Data archived under 4.7 still be accessible with ECC 6.0?

Looking forward to hear from the trenches!

Thanks in advance

Hannes

Hi Experts,

I ran into this intermittent problem where while accessing a URL from ABAP system that has 2 application servers and SSL implemented, its throwing

500 SAP Internal Server Error

ERROR: A request for server appserver-01 was sent to server appserver-02. Note 1364846 (termination: ERROR_MESSAGE_STATE)

I added the profile wdisp/HTTPS/sticky_mask = 255.255.255.0 but that didnot help either.

This one web dispatcher setup is for multiple SAP systems. Please suggest.

SAP DR setup using Sybase replication server

$

Hi Experts,

We have our ECC production system installed on AIX / Sybase ASE database on H/A cluster. We are now planning to setup a DR server on a remote site using Sybase Replication server.

The plan to proceed is as follows:

1. On standby - Install SAP and Sybase database with same SID and system numbers (single host)

2. Update Sybase patch on secondary site to match that of primary database (SP 110 or above)

3. Install Replication server 15.7.1 SP 111 or above on both primary and standby servers.

4. Configure DR agents for replication between both sites.

5. Backup primary database and restore it on standby site (not sure of the best way to achieve this)

6. Start the database on standby site in recovery mode.

7. Monitor log shipping between both sites and plan for DR drill.

Question:

Is the above approach correct?
Since the primary site is on cluster, do we need to install replication server on any one of the cluster nodes, or both?
Additionally, are there any specific requirements relating to hostname? Do we need logical hostname? I know the Database SID must be the same.

Would also appreciate if you can advise if the setup needs to be re-done after a DR drill exercise.

In case I have missed anything or need to give special attention to, please provide your valuable suggestions.

Thank you !!

Regards,

AJ

Hi,

I am running a local client copy using 5 parallel processes.

Suddenly i can see after sometime the parallel processes reduced to 2 and the client copy is very slow now.

Is it recommended to lock the source client before client copy for better performance and any other prerequisites need to be followed?

TP buffer inconsistency when doing import in SPAM

Hi,

We're importing addons packets in SPAM. In the phase import proper it says:

"The import was stopped, since an error occurred during the phase

IMPORT_PROPER, which the Support Package Manager is unable to resolve

without your input.

After you have corrected the cause of the error, continue with the

import by choosing Support Package -> Import queue from the initial

screen of the Support Package Manager.

The following details help you to analyze the problem:

    -   Error in phase: IMPORT_PROPER

    -   Reason for error: TP_BUFFER_INCONSISTENCY

    -   Return code: 0008

    -   Error message: Pkgs. in queue don"t exist in the tp buffer (e.g.

        SAPKITLRE8)"

Please advice! Thanks.

BRRESTORE Error BR0278E: Can't read input

Hi all

We are facing the following error when we are trying to restore our quality SAP server with a offline BRBACKUP (native backup over a tape) taken from a TSM backup facility onto a new server using BRRESTORE using HP Tape Drives.

The weird part is if we are lucky the restore does run after changing the tape drives a number of times. However we end up facing this error more often than ever. The error is the same after using a new tape / new backup for the restore.

Kindly provide any pointers that could help resolve this issue.

Hi.Experts,

In a new SAP component installation with "t-cd:SAINT", an error occurred.

ERROR MESSAGE

=============================================

Phase CHECK_REQUIREMENTS: Explanation of Errors

Open conversion requests still exist in the ABAP Dictionary for the

following ABAP Dictionary objects. To avoid inconsistencies and loss of

data, you must process these conversions first.

Proceed as follows:

- Open a new session.

- Start the Database Utility (transaction SE14).

- Correct the inconsistencies for the specified objects.

- Repeat the import phase. If no more inconsistencies are found, the

   import continues.

=============================================

I have already checked 4 things of below

1.SE14-->BSEG

I can see the message below  on the screen.

Request:"Adjust" Error in step2 -see object log and analysis

2.SPAU

The contents related to BSEG are already modified (Green)

3.SPDD

The contents related to BSEG are already modified (Green)

4.SE10

There is no modifiable request related BSEG.

Could someone tell me about how to deal this error?

Cannot change http port

Hi guys,

I am trying to change the http port permanently to port 8000. Therefore I go to RZ10 -> select SID_DVEBMGS00_XXXXX -> Extended maintenance -> Display -> Edit -> Create -> and I add

Parameter name:

icm/server_port_0

Parameter val:

PROT=HTTP, PORT=8000

Then I press twice Copy and activate the profile. After that I restart the system.

Now when I go back to RZ10 -> select SID_DVEBMGS00_XXXXX I can not see the icm/server_port_0 entry in the parameter list. It should be here right?

Also when I go to transaction SMICM -> GOTO -> Services the HTTP Protocol is 0 and not 8000.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks

Dear All,

We have Installed SAP NW 7.4 EP and applied SPS 07.

We have Enabled the UI theme editor in the Netweaver Administrator.

Configuration > Infrastructure > Application Modules;

Select the web module "com.sap.portal.themes.lafservice" in the Module List; Now in the Portal Service Details the Properties are loaded. Change "Determine what will be the theme runtime provider" to LESS. Save it and restart the portal

But we are not getting the EDIT option.

Regards.
